Component Consolidation [ Budget: $0.5m   Resource: 3FTE    Duration: 6months ]


Application had 2 components, older thin web based and newer strategic RCP component. Web component was utilizing old technologies, couldn’t deliver the same performance, wasn’t strategically aligned and had high overhead management cost associated due to parallel code base, complex release and support requirements, which increased the overall development cost of the team.

All business groups except Commodity agreed on cause and onboarding timelines. Commodity business had plans to migrate their business to strategic Athena platform, which was on hold due to delays in that project. Hence they couldn’t commit to our migration timelines.



Created business case to reflect the benefits of consolidation. Initiated discussion with Commodity MO Head and Business Managers to communicate decisions about the change. Created cost report to support business on old components. Created detailed analysis for each targeted product, their volume history, operational model, regions & business dependencies.

Successfully completed consolidation process for Rates, GEM & Credit business areas by decommissioning unused trade types and their associated web components. Build process models and implemented end-to-end solution for in use types using RCP component. Commodity business group accepted the solution isolate their components and continue with only support model until their strategic systems were ready for migration. Technology Team reported cost reduction by 30%, release cycles and output was also considerably improved.
