DCC Weekly Activities: an iOS app from idea to App Store
In detail
Desi Cycling Club · 2024 to 2026 · Product owner and developer
A 22,000-line native iOS app that gives a cycling club weekly leaderboards, trends and coaching insight that Strava doesn't offer, designed, built and shipped end to end.
Scale: 22K lines of Swift · 55+ features · 80 Swift files · 50+ Jira stories · serverless backend
The challenge
Club members wanted club-level weekly stats and comparisons. Strava shows individual rides only. There was no budget, no team and no existing app, so delivery discipline had to come from one person.
What I did
Designed and built the app in Swift 6 and SwiftUI with iPhone, iPad and Apple TV support, Face ID, on-device speech recognition and full VoiceOver accessibility.
Built the backend on Cloudflare Workers with KV caching, cron refresh and an OAuth token proxy so secrets never leave the server.
Integrated the Strava and Jira APIs; ran sprint-based delivery in Jira with regression checklists and a change-control framework for protected files.
Used AI-assisted development with written guardrails to ship faster without regressions on critical paths.
Outcome
Live in the App Store after TestFlight beta, with 55+ features and no regressions on critical paths.
Sub-100ms cached responses from edge locations worldwide.
