A unified hosting platform for the global sales and marketing application stack, then its migration to a new data centre.

The challenge

The marketer application stack had outgrown its infrastructure. The business needed performance and capacity headroom, disaster recovery and business continuity, and a move to a new data centre without downtime.

What I did

• Managed the full lifecycle from design and proof of concept through testing, delivery and transition into support.

• Implemented the hosting platform: Apache web tier, Tomcat and WebSphere application servers, JANUS authentication and Sybase data servers.

• Established disaster-recovery and business-continuity plans, then led the data-centre migration.

Outcome

• $200k a year saved in management cost, with performance and capacity to grow.
