Chapter 1: The Big Journey Begins
Text:It was February 1998 when I left Mumbai, India, with one bag, £200 in my pocket, and a job offer from CSC Limited. My destination was London, where I was to start a new chapter as a Network Engineer at JPMorgan. The flight was long, and as I landed at Heathrow Terminal 3, I couldn’t wait to step foot on British soil. But first, I had to get through immigration and a chest X-ray to prove I was infection-free.

Chapter 2: Stepping into the Cold Morning
Text:After finally getting out of the airport around 7 AM, I stepped into the freezing London air. My thin jacket and jeans weren’t enough to keep the chill away. I was shivering but had no time to think about it. I needed to get to Reading. HR from India had instructed me to catch a bus to Reading, which would take about two hours.

Chapter 3: A Long Journey to Reading
Text:The bus ride to Reading felt longer than it was. I hadn’t eaten since the light breakfast served on the plane at 4 AM, and it was now 10 AM. After a bumpy ride, I arrived at the Reading office, where I was greeted with some coffee and biscuits. I was joined by other newcomers for an induction seminar, which left me tired but relieved.

Chapter 4: The Next Mission - Central London
Text:After the induction, I was told to head to central London to collect keys for the house I’d be sharing with other colleagues. They sent me in a cab to JPMorgan’s Fleet Street office. After waiting for two hours, I finally met Satish Lele, who handed me the keys. He also helped arrange a black cab to take me to Wembley, where the house was located.

Chapter 5: Reaching Wembley - A Dark Evening
Text:The ride to Wembley was long and exhausting, and by the time we reached, it was dark outside. The taxi driver kindly waited until I opened the door to make sure I got in safely. I was finally in what would be my new home. I headed straight to the bedroom, lay down on the bed, and fell asleep after a day filled with travel and new experiences.

Chapter 6: Meeting My New Housemates
Text:The next morning, I woke up to meet my new housemates: Satish Lele, Mahendra Inamdar, and Amit Shah. I learned that Amir Mohammed was also staying with us but wasn’t there at the time. The house was lively, and each member had a role in keeping the household running smoothly. We headed to Wembley High Street to buy groceries, had tea and mono chips at Saki restaurant, and even managed to open a bank account at Barclays.

Chapter 7: Settling In
Text:As the day ended, I felt a sense of relief and accomplishment. I was in a new city, with new people, in a completely different environment. Although everything was unfamiliar, I knew this was just the beginning of an incredible journey. I was ready to embrace what lay ahead.
